History

PIKC Riga Tourism and Creative Industries Technical School has been operating as an educational institution for 40 years, with the aim of creating an educational environment, organizing and implementing education that would achieve the goals of vocational education defined in the state vocational secondary and vocational education standards.

The school began its operations on June 8, 1980 at Lazaretes Street 3. In 1986, construction of the new training complex began, which was completed in 1993. Starting from the 1990/1991 school year, the school works in the new complex at 26 Nicgales Street, Riga, which has well-equipped study rooms and laboratories, training production workshops, hostel, hostel, canteen, cafe, sports complex, library.

The pace of development of the Latvian economy within the European Union and the economic situation in the world place demands for highly qualified specialists in various sectors who are able to adapt quickly and flexibly to the changing demands of the labor market.

Graduates of the State Tourism and Creative Industry Technical School Ltd. have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities in accordance with the profession standards and the existing qualification requirements.

During the school's existence more than 6 thousand specialists have been trained in the fields of food production, catering, tourism and business, hospitality, style and fashion, beauty and interior design.

From 1980 to October 2019, the head of the educational institution was a member of the board - director Silva Ozoliņa.

From Autumn 2019 the head of the educational institution is a member of the board - director Ilze Ločmane.

Looking back at history:

The school was founded on July 8, 1980. Its name was Riga 13th Technical School.
Since 1984, the school has been named Riga's 50th Technical Vocational High School. We start vocational secondary education.
Since 1990 - Riga 1st Food Industry School. Training begins at the new training complex at 26 Nicgales Street, Riga.
In 1998, a specialized food and hospitality training center was established on the basis of the school and the school was renamed "Riga Food Producer High School".
In 2000, the school was renamed the non-profit organization State Ltd. to the legal status of Riga Food Producers Secondary School.
Since 2005, the name of the school was State Ltd. Riga Food Producers Secondary School.
Since September 1, 2013 - State limited liability company „Riga Tourism and Creative Industry Technical School”
